Time

Time is such a traitor;

He took away the lines

of every poem in my head

and every song in my mind.

He sneaks into your life

just as the words flow in

and before you have a chance,

he takes them away again.

If I could find a way

to tell him just to pause,

maybe I could find the words

to put toward my cause.

Each poem that I write

could have a great meaning,

but Time peels back the words

and leaves my mind gaping.

But today will be a different day;

I'm writing just for Time.

He can never take from me

what truly isn't mine.
