Time / Abu Karim
Free and frank time goes on when I’m with you;
time seems to be a guest bird day and night
flying from the icy wind of Siberia in search
of a little bit of heat smearing sun on two
tired wings. They land on the haors of Sunamgonj
and fend for themselves with small fish.
My time passes with you very smooth
as if we were swimming in a river,
an earthen pitcher on your side waist
and fishing net with me.
We pluck outs flowers and their
roots; we burn and eat the egg-shaped
roots in fire.
We collect the young ones of ducks and
Dahuks from the jungle by the river.
We embrace each other wholeheartedly.
The shocks of your hair from both sides
get disheveled around and look like two
snakes dangling from trees.
