Time After Time

Time after time, I collected the tears.

Time after time, I stared out the window.

Time after time, I yearned to leave.

Time after time, I thought of leaving.

Somehow I knew that you catch me every time.

Somehow I knew that you would stop me from dreaming.

Somehow I knew that you could not be alone.

Somehow I knew that you thought I needed to be rescued.

From Phoenix to Los Angeles to Denver,

You came and rescued me when I begged you to let me to go.

In your eyes, I am crazy and needed to settle down.

You wanted me to be jaded.

Time after time, I ran back to you.

Time after time, I gaslighted through life.

Now I will not let my life be jaded
