Time Flies

I knew that when I first saw you time had stood still for us to meet

I glanced as you and you glanced at me and for a second our eyes met

Yet no words came out of our mouths

Each second, each minute went by laughing at us because we looked like lifeless dolls

Time told me to hurry up and say something because the sun was ready to go to bed

Time was our enemy, our foe, our destroyer

Our nerves wrecked and our minds raced as time took its toll

Staring at each other silently anticipating the next move

All of a sudden, time told the sun to sleep

The moon and the stars filled the night sky

You left with an empty look on your face and I in that instant and I knew time had won

The seconds came back, still laughing, flashing those few short memories we had together

That was the last time that I had seen you

Clear, vivid images of your face still appear in my head

It brings back so much pain but the pain is sweet and everlasting

But I can still hear the seconds and minutes taunting and teasing waving their banner of memories
