"Time Heals All Wounds"

Time supposedly heals all wounds

Cuts scab over and eventually fade

Leaving only faint traces

Bruises dim like dying light bulbs

Leaving no hint that they were ever there.

Broken bones mend

Said to be stronger than they were before.

But what about the heart?

How do wounds that do not bleed heal?

When the support columns of our heart collapse

There is no one to rebuild them

And prop them back up like foldable tents.

Time does not heal all wounds,

It only taught me that after a while we get used to the pain

And learn how to survive with broken parts.
