Time Lost

Teens poems typically filled with drugs, sex, and hatred. Dark kinds of words, exes that they dated. Doing wrong at home, isolation is alone, I'll eliminate it for this one.

How bout kings and queens, Elmo on television screen. Tryna get ya age up, with ya first case of makeup. Stories with bedtimes, Mary had a riddle and a rhyme, but where did the time..... go?

We wanted to grow up, we got the wish granted; but left prince and princesses, all the enchanted.

Now it's gone. The trips and ropes, still wet behind the ears. Time waits for no one, just look at the years. Milk turned to liquor, candy turned to drugs, ya mother getting old, ya feeling unloved. Ya grades dropping, mind boggled, you're going insane, believing no one else even knows your pain.

Adult hood up the block, no rent to live there anymore. Let's go and get hid as you wish you were a kid, afraid of who's knocking at the door.

Open it up find a red fire truck, raggedy Anne, your favorite band, so much more.

Then you ask yourself...why did I wanna grow up?
