Time Runs

Time is a vast resource,

Yet not enough remains.

Days pass,

Seconds wasted turn to minutes,

Hours tick by,

Gone now and forever,

Clock that goes round and round,

Seemingly endless string,

Pulling, ticking, tocking,

24 hours in a day, not enough,

Never enough,

We talk, laugh smile,

Try to trick ourselves into believing now is forever,

But now is in the past,

Present ever-pressing,

Pushing at the seams,

Pushing in then streaming out,

Life flows fast and strong,

First we jog and now we run,

If you stop to take a breath,

You’ll be overcome,

Assignments pile up,

Time runs out the door,

Expecting more and more,

We write, learn, try to create,

Ideas have left our mind,

Oblivious to the stress,

We’re sure that you are blind,

Pushed to the edge,

Some jump, cling and fall below,

Time ticks fast,

Yet days drag by slow.
