Time is a thief
Though nobody can truly feel it, the earth is moving as I write this.
Every second the earth slowly rotates on its axis.
We cannot feel the earth moving, but we notice the outcome of the planet doing its rotation.
Just as it is nearly impossible to feel the earth move, I’ve found it is nearly impossible to feel myself transition into adulthood.
Though I wish I could.
It is only when reality slaps me in the face when I realize that the sweet freedom of childhood is washed down the drain, along with my unattainable youthful dreams.
Adulthood makes an appearance when I can feel the sting of rejection after applying for over 20 jobs and only hearing back from 2.
Adulthood lingers in the corner of my room as I cry before work, dreading the long day ahead of me for a paycheck that will barely pay my bills.
Adulthood swims in my tears as I lose the ones I love, ripping meaning away from the word “forever”.
Adulthood is a virus and I am its host.
He is draining me of my ignorant happiness.
If only I could stop time.
Time is the true enemy.
Time pushes us forward, forcing us to leave treasured memories in the past.
Time is a thief. Time is a disease.
Adulthood is only a side effect.
