That Time of Year
As the alarm starts to sound,
And your mom starts to pound,
You know it's that time of year.
Handwriting is hard
Locked in, almost barred
You know it's that time of year.
As August nears end
September's around the bend
You know it's that time of year.
Still using text terms
"Wash hands, get rid of germs!"
You know it's that time of year.
Dozing off during class
Having to ask for a hallway pass
You know it's that time of year.
Passing out when you get home
After learning of fruits and pomes
You know it's that time of year.
I guess new clothes is a plus
But rides on the bus?
You know it's that time of year.
When the morn' comes fast
And the night comes faster
You know it's that time of year.
No more pulling all-nighters
Or playing gun fighters
You know it's that time of year.
The time that some hate the most
To it, they want to say "Adios!"
This time of great and sudden despair is
school.
