A Timeless Love

hardly would you think it so
we search the face of every soul
looking for someone to find
the interlocking heart and mind

the half of each that longs to be
together knit
in pattern new
of partly me
and partly you

a seamless fit
a dreamless night
a walk in golden morning light

a look
a touch
a fevered kiss

a knowledge breaking like the sun
when night retreats before the dawn
"belong together" is never sure
the tide withdraws
the moon goes down

but time that flys
will linger long
where lovers draped
across the bed
with slightest touch
will pause the day

and eyes that shine with morning's love
will see the stars within her eyes
and roll the orange morning skies
back before the golden dawn
to darkest night and candle light
and drowning in her gentle charms
