The Times of Escape
There is so much I could write about.
The time my dad read his poems
And the times he wrote them to my mom
The times I wrote them for school
And hated every minute
The times I was curled into a ball
And wrote to expel the personal demons of my life
The times I was laughing for joy
And the words rushed onto the page to express it
The times I wanted to express myself
And then no one listened
The times I cried onto paper
And the tears became words
The times I wrote because a teacher inspired me
And I finally learned my worth as a writer
The times I thought my world was ending
And begged for the right words to explain the pain
The time my teacher taught me that words, pure words,
Had to slam onto the paper like a falling textbook
All of these times have made me wish to be a writer,
All of them have caused me to write,
All, taught me to embrace writing as the ultimate escape for the joy and from the pain.
