Times have changed

Secluded from our parents, him and I,

Another bottle crashes in the bin

I didn’t know, but my brother would lie

he was hurt too but it was all within

my mom sat us down for dinner one night

she told us they were getting a divorce

he said not to cry but I said I might

mom said “it’s okay dear, it ran its course”

things were different and I knew I changed

I had grown up in a span of a year

Time to plan my life, get things arranged

Go from a job to picking a career

Sometimes growing up is not a choice

The good thing is that now I have a voice
