Timid Screams
I praise the extroverted that use their voice to make people listen.
I admire those that can eloquently speak their opinions without the need of others.
Their words flowing into a river of thoughts, aspirations, and dreams.
But me... with my pen and paper I easily transform to the outspoken black girl who's
opinions and beliefs become unwrapped from my insecurities and doubts.
The very essence of poetry takes hold and I like the caged bird Maya Angelou once
traced out with her words, is free... I take to the air with the very utterance of a poetic line.
So you could infer that poetry gives a freedom similar to the idea that you
are free from years of incarceration or the chains of slavery have finally been
broken after decades of oppression.
But even then it doesn't come close to the sensation of being free to only realize
it to was a facade like the desert recreating an alluring pond for lost travelers to only discover
the sand is equal to more despair.
And thus bringing to a close my freedom which once was a sweet release of my pen divulging
the inner struggles of an inaudible poet.
