Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor.....
Tinker, Tailor,
Soldier, Sailor,
To those who knew him well,
Bert was his handle,
In civvie street
Neither a Tinker, Tailor,
Therefore before his war
Plastering was his trade,
Subsequently!
Before you knew it
He became,
Soldier,
Sailor,
And as records note,
And records show,
Three times
He signed the dotted line;
Was it fancy?
Was it folly?
Volunteering all the way;
To sail away,
Onboard the good ship ‘Kanowna,’
Voyage of emancipation,
A fallen warrior to help,
Another warrior to save,
Another warrior to comfort,
On their voyage of repatriation,
Back home to motherland, Australia.
Bert was neither Tinker,
Tailor,
But a soldier,
And a Sailor
In his time of war.
