Tinkerbell

Yo Tony, you really remind me of one.

Optimistic, full of love, filled with life.

How does it feel to be a god so small?

So petite, but so powerful?

Tiny but legendary?

You give them apart of yourself so they can touch the heavens.

Morphing sadness into brightness.

Lighting up closets.

You really lit the room up today!

All talk and sprinkle,

Flickering of the wings.

How you sing a lullaby so precious that lost boys are soul searching?

How you survive all these growing pains?

These late nights studying, College application applying, AP homework stressing, Adulthood depressing trauma?

You really glowing!

I see that dust helping you shimmer.

All shine and marvelous.

Got that old man hook.

Call you a ship the way you hold everything that doesn’t belong to you.

Announce your attitude the reason for everything.

Look at them tony, leaving you out of the gathering you made.

Leaving you out of the aura you nourished.

Yo Tony, you remind me of tinker bell.

Can you tell?

When people stop believing in fairies their light begin to flick.

Look at you. Getting all dim in the sunlight.

What happened to that shimmer you had?

The land took your words and sold it for profit.

Stamped shut your tongue to the highest bidder, tendencies of a owner.

How bitter you must be til they hear the ringing, crushing under all this silence.

Wondering why they hear you speak louder when you’re quiet.

Not even the mirror can make you believe in self again.

Can help you see childhood hiding in the thickest of clouds.

You say, “I’m just ready for these last two months to be over”

But let’s be honest.

The closer you get to graduation day the more you see never land.

Where things get forgotten and you’re afraid that you’ll get blown away in a Wendy World

Where your wings disintegrate, painful screams escape your ripcage.

Wobbling legs cause you’re forced to walk on two feet.

How the next best thing will come and you’ll just be small, petite, tiny.

Have you heard about them fairies?

Them lost boys?

Them heathens from neverland never land.

They abort ship,

Walk the plank,

Try to stop clocks from ticking.

I know tony, growing up is hard.

It’s scary.

How now you got those old men hook.

Observant of your newly found adulthood.

Your body be a pirates target, X mark the spot.

You be stolen property, put back on the ship all over again.

They find the treasure buried deep in your chest but won’t take the heart.

Childhood is forgotten the second you lose the pixie dust.

Isn’t it just tragic, how never can be seen so soon.
