Tiny Dancer

Daddy, where are you going? Why is momma crying?

Who is that girl with the pretty hair who calls me sweetie?

Do you think she’s prettier than me? Is that why

You would rather spend your nights away, instead

Of checking for monsters in my closet and singing me

Lullabies? Grandpa and Grandma say that you

Gave me my curly Q’d hair and big blue eyes, so

Do you want them back before you leave again?

I miss you, daddy. You aren’t as good at singing Tiny

Dancer as Elton John, but I bet he doesn’t tickle as

Good as you. Do you miss me when you’re gone?

Will you meet Cammy? She’s my new sister, and

So pretty, but she cries a lot. Mommy and her cry

Together sometimes. I never know whose tears are whose

When I wipe them up off Mommy’s chest. I bet that

That pretty girl wouldn’t mind if you came home

And helped make mommy and sissy feel happy.

Will you please come home, daddy? Please? I love

You. Why don’t you love me back?
