Tip toes

I am the little girl,

on tip toes

reaching for the wall to display my idols with tape.

I am the little girl,

on tip toes

reaching for the cubby where ballet shoes hide.

I am the little girl,

on tip toes

reaching for the book that was too literate for me.

I am the little girl,

with nothing to reach for.

my tip toes have been replaced with inches of heels.

While society may physically enable my reach,

my mind will always be,

on tip toes.
