Tired
I thought I heard a crash near the top of the staircase,
so I fumbled with the matchbox,
and I tumbled out of bed.
I thought I heard a crash near the top of the staircase,
so I hurtled towards the steps,
and I goggled at their depth.
You ain't ever seen steps so deep,
so deep they'd bring a tear to your eye,
so deep they'd damn near break your heart,
so deep they'd keep swallow you whole.
I heard a crash near the top of the staircase,
but I turned around and stumbled back into bed.
