Tired, Cold, and Dreary.........and then Light
I'm tired of the lies
I'm tired of the looks
I'm tired of those who laugh at all jokes
I'm tired of all the conspiring,
especially all the fighting
I'm tired of all the broken hearts
and all the fallen tears
So many people need help
Can't you hear?
Cold is claiming them,
making them it's home
It's only a matter of time before they have nowhere else to go
It's creeping closer,
relentless of pursuit
Just waiting at your back door for you to make a move
Everything is dreary
no room for more pretending
Your heart feels the sorrow
slowly surrounding
It's too dark for you too see
All the drear clouding you eyes
It seemed that there was a tunnel
but endless to my demise
I felt the warm chill,
before I actually saw
The bright light that crawled across the tunnel walls
Leaving my heart racing with excitement
I felt it across my cheek
And then I felt myself being embraced
by a light that knew it was needed in haste
I took it and held it
Afraid to let it go
It pulled me through the darkness
To a new world all my own
I knew who I was
and who I had become
There was no second guessing
The secret pleasure in who I was
There was no forgetting
just always remembering
This is who I am
And that's fine with me
