Titanic

Sitting tall upon the water,

like a queen upon her throne,

she seemed to proclaim to all who saw her

that she could care for her own!

The biggest vessel ever built,

she was quite the sight to see;

to all who would board her decks and sail

she promised peace and safety.

Her maiden voyage started well

and went as always planned;

but along her route an iceberg loomed

and into it she slammed.

As her hull filled with water,

her crew tried to stay the fright;

but inwardly they knew

that death would fill the night.

The rich were saved in lifeboats,

while the poor were left to die;

it would have made you sick at heart

to hear the people cry.

She split in two, then down she sank

into her watery grave,

while thousands were left in the bitter cold

trying so hard to be brave.

Rescuers came and saved those who were left

and left those who had found their fate.

April fifteen, nineteen twelve

will be remembered as a most tragic date.
