To fall in love
I wonder what it feels like
to slowly become someone's favorite thought,
to find a name
that makes your heart pause
for just a second too long.
I wonder what it feels like
to have someone notice the little things—
the way you laugh when you're nervous,
the songs you play when you're sad,
the stories you tell
when you don't really have a point.
I want the kind of love
that begins quietly,
somewhere between
“are you home?”
and “text me when you get there.”
The kind that grows
without either of us noticing,
until one ordinary day
I look at you
and realize—
oh.
I've fallen.
I want the nervous smiles,
the accidental touches,
the late-night conversations
that turn five minutes
into three hours.
I want to know someone
so deeply
that their silence has a language
and their presence
feels like an answer.
Maybe that's why
I'm not afraid of falling in love.
I'm afraid
I'll never know
what it feels like.
Because somewhere inside me
is a girl who still believes
that love is not supposed to be
a grand entrance.
Maybe it's just
two people choosing each other
on ordinary days,
again,
and again,
and again.
And maybe someday,
someone will look at me
the way I've always imagined—
like finding me
was never an accident.
And when that day comes,
I hope I don't wonder
if it's love.
I hope
I just know.
