A Toast to Eminem
I'm a fan of Eminem.
From 'Without Me' to 'Walk on Water',
from his voice to his rhymes,
and from Slim Shady to Marshall Mathers.
But what I like most is it's personal.
Not because he likes it but he also told us of hs life.
He told us how he grew up in a trailer park with just his mom,
how he felt for a friend caught in a cross fire between the hip-hop industry,
his relationship with his daughter,
the looming thoughts in his head,
his respect to other artist,
and the struggles of fame.
And it was all done with words on paper,
words with rhymes like door hinge and orange,
rhymes that catches ears like mouse traps with
a voice that's indistinguishable,
and a catching tune that lets you know the man who's rapping.
It just goes to show of one's will to show feeling,
to share stories,
to give thought,
to express talent,
and bring a voice to millions.
Which I thought is impressive.
That's what I think of Slim Shaddy.
That's what I think of Eminem.
That's what I think of Marshall Mathers.
