Just Breathe Everyone around you feels the same. Eyes stay forward Today is everyone’s first day. It’s a big world Everything is new. The traditions are old There is so much to do. Shaky palms and sweaty hands The feelings creeping in. Glance through the window Take a breath and count to ten. So many different faces Somehow seeming the same They all feel the way you do The outside together, the insides insane. With a look of knowing It starts to feel okay. It’s not a test Only a lesson for another day. The breathing will get easier The more you take it in. Today is a milestone The day where the rest of your life begins.
