TODAY THE DEVIL PASSED

TODAY THE DEVIL PASSED ***************************** (poem-11) Today, the devil passed through my town His steps sowing seeds of discord Leaving violence's mark on every young man's crown Raising an aggressively riotous horde. . Today, the devil strolled through my area His gaze stoking the embers of simmering hatred The devil passed riding on hindered prayers The wisp of his perfume left peace desecrated. . Today, the devil breezed though my hood And the whirlwind of his passage knocked all heads together Injecting bad blood into the bloodstream of the good Stretching patience to the end of its tether . Right now, the devil is in my locality Causing hell's heat to scorch our humanity Transplanting enmity in the place of tranquility Freely trading evil in the fair of vanity. . Today, before the devil left my vicinity He covered it up in a choking cloak of impunity . Today, as the devil departed this domiciliary He left a parting gift: a festival of incurable insanity.
