Today I'm Pretty
Two days ago I woke up, I went to school just like every other day
I looked in the mirror
I never thought I was beautiful but ugly was never in my voacbulary
I went to highschool just like every other 16 year old girl
Sitting down in 6th period surround by societies expectations, I hear a voice
Barreling loudly over whipers of peoples suppositions a boy, he screams
Not one would converse with you if your face did not take the shape of societies mold
Yesterday I woke up but first I went to my bathroom
I put on my shield that protects me from the insults of society
I was not complemented
but I was also not torn down from the stand that I am as a human being
I did not feel what was expected
Confiedence was not inspired but rather emptiness was aquired
Today I woke up
I felt strength to be who I was born as
I did not enter the world with a mask
I will not feel forced to journey throughtout my life with a sheild
Today, tomorrow, forever
People does not dictate my confidence
I dictate my confidence in life
