Today's Generation

I was born in the generation of technological advancement and cyber-bullying

I was born in the generation where the sources of gossip are Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook

I was born in the generation in which everyone dresses the same

I was born in the generation where television entertainment involves sex, drugs, alcohol, and partying

I was born in the generation where music no longer has sentimental meaning

I was born in the generation where there are many unsafe drivers

I was born in the generation where teenage pregnancy is a prevalent issue

I was born in a generation where homosexuals are discriminated

I was born in a generation of change

I was born in a generation where the elected leader of the nation is an African American

I was born in a generation where the Catholic Church is judged by the mistakes of many cardinals

I was born in a generation where teenage suicide is common

I was born in a generation where children no longer play outside

Today’s society is filled with sadness and grief over the many lost lives of 9/11

Today’s society is filled with the sadness and grief for the lives lost in war

Today’s society is filled with the sadness of the recession

Today’s society is filled with the sadness of the various mental disorders

Today’s society is filled with grief of feeling lost

Today’s society is filled with hypocrites

Today's society is filled with human trafficking

Today's society is filled with educators that care

Today's society is filled with freedom of expression

Today's society is filled with fast food places at every corner

Today's society is filled with high obesity rates

Today's society is filled with a myriad of public shootings

Today's society is filled with terminal illnesses

But today's society is still filled with hope
