Today's Love

People are so infatuated by the process of falling in love
But they don’t realize that the most important part comes afterwards.
In a world where life is unfair
And people constantly change,
People have to understand that love changes.
Today’s love,
Fueled by a misconception etched into the foundations of our society,
That love should only provide them an eternity of bliss. 
In reality,
Love is frustrating, love is inconsistent, love is flawed.
We start a relationship in a meaningless sex-crazed passion,
But as we evolve, our love evolves,
The foundation becomes a comfort held together by trust and understanding.
We live in a world where everyone is supposed to be a mind-reader,
And acts of grandeur are the only way to show love.
I pity this society
Because they can’t see the true beauty of love.
