Together

I am standing on the edge This is it Brisk, breezy, chills rack my spine Here I am There’s no road going back Things will never be the same This human life inside of me Growing, stretching, breathing From here, I can only go forward Reaching my foot into the open abyss Stretching my toes in the freedom of space I can’t take the easy way out There is no easy way out This baby is alive This baby deserves life As much as I do I see this blank space before me So foggy, unclear But we leap into it We leap together

This poem highlights the courage of a young woman to keep her baby in an unplanned pregnancy. Although the pregnancy brings many challenges, she is willing to face them head on because she knows that her child deserves to have a life. The road may be unclear, but she and her child will have each other.
