Together

Eyes heavy, shoulders, too.

The lock works against you

but you manage.

Coat on the rack, keys on the hook...

He beat you home.

Sizzling, humming - a delightful chorus.

There he is. Over the stove, a smile on his lips.

Cooking for you both.

His posture, the tilt of his head...

He's tired, too.

Your arms drape around him.

He giggles, "Missed you."

"Missed you more."

Another kiss and then some wine...

He looks to you. "I'm so glad you're mine."

Quietly eating, only speaking in soft tones.

Exhaustion pulls on you both

but you've never been happier.

Eating across from the man you love,

sipping cheap wine in peace.

His hair, his eyes, his freckles...

His scruff makes him look a little rough

but you know better.

He's as sweet as a puppy

and tender as a kitten.

Nothing can keep you apart,

not for long.

Exhaustion overtakes you day after day

but he's always there for you

and you're always there for him, too.
