Together

I've watched you give in Too many times What makes you go back? What makes you stay? Your insecurity scares me You've never been anywhere You've never seen the world Your sense of adventure translates into Staying with this abuser. You drink vodka neat To numb the pain One day you decided you had had enough And called 911 They took him You filed a report They put him in jail You cried all night feeling so guilty Gradually With each passing day You started to recover You stepped out of your comfort zone In tiny microscopic moves You changed your locks You got your own accounts You even got a dog (who hates him, of course) You took control Friends came back (Well most of them) Some didn't make it through the fire You falter, get back up, trip, get your balance But I'm watching Waiting For him to act up again. I'll never relax Until he's a mere memory We re doing it. Together.
