Toke

A thick fog clouds my mind as flint meets steel once again. One deep breath makes me feel alive, yet I lose my focus, grain by grain. I toke and toke, the weed leaves me broke, dulling the edges, masking the ache, trying to quit with each breath I take. It steals tomorrow, day by day, yet weaves my life together still, my only comfort, my only home, the only peace I cannot kill.
