Toll Gate

Hiding in

a shadow

The light

forever near

My world is

pothole bound

Restraining

hope with fear

Dirt roads

of my memory

Training wheels

unsure

Rolling forward

falling back

Beyond

— the lion’s roar

(Dreamsleep: November, 2024)
