Tomorrow Isn't Guaranteed

Everyone

likes to believe

tomorrow is guaranteed.

But if you could

only say one more thing,

only write once more,

what would you say?

You pause,

wish you had a brilliant quip

like a superhero

in the middle of a fight.

But ultimately…

you don’t have

a team of writers behind you,

so you must write

it all

for yourself.

You sigh…and

keep the cap on your pen,

keep your mouth closed.

No words are sufficient.

Nothing can sum up the

twisted mess of feelings

nestled in your stomach.

For we all only live once:

so we only write our story once.

And the idea that

that could all be gone

is earth-shattering.

So, if you can

only write once more,

I hope you say it all

with your smile,

your eyes,

your love.

Don’t waste your time

on words.

But until then,

you must continue to

write your life and

speak your mind.

Tomorrow may not

be guaranteed.

So write once today.

And twice tomorrow.

And thrice the next day.

But always do so…

like it is the last time.
