Tongue Battles

It's at the tip of your tongue. You try so hard to find that word. That one word with the right meaning And with that meaning you convey All the right things to say. For years I've been battling my tongue. You God forsaken contraption! You have the ability to release some of the worlds most beautiful pieces. You can start wars, end wars, Or even rally for peace. You create friendships, create enemies, And create memories which are mine to keep. Yet when I need at my absolute convenience, you freeze, As if caught in time; Caught in an anonymous word limbo. Like when I have to tell my mom I failed my physics quiz and convince her it's not that bad of a grade. Or when I tell my best friend how beautiful she is and when I use the word beautiful and every other synonym known to man, I still come off as unconvincing. Or when I try to to find the right words for my dreaded english essay and hope that my words can produce an A. "Hey Melissa, how are you?" Where is the one word to show that I'm confident and happy while feeling the weight of a burdened earth and get a nonchalant reply? For years I've been able to speak, and yet I've never fully mastered my tongue.
