a tonic for the soul
dear misery,
i’m writing this letter to ask you to leave.
i can no longer take the constant torment.
i can no longer take the constant pain.
i’m writing this letter to ask you to leave.
dear anxiety,
i’m writing this letter to ask you to stop.
i can no longer handle the frequent uneasiness lingering in my chest.
i can no longer handle the nervous feeling i get whenever someone comes near.
i’m writing this letter to ask you to stop.
dear depression,
i’m writing this letter to ask you to leave.
i’m writing all these “letters” to ask you to leave.
misery, anxiety, fear, pain, etc.
you’ve invited all of them into my life
and i’d appreciate it if you’d take them
and leave.
it’s become so cold
(in my heart)
now and i miss the
warmth.
it’s become so loud
(in my head)
now and i miss the
quiet.
it’s become so empty
(in my soul)
now and i miss the
feeling of being alive.
i’ve become a shell of
what i once was and i miss the
old me.
dear me,
one day i will be free.
that day may not be today.
that day may not come soon.
but that’s ok… because ONE DAY I WILL BE FREE.
