Tonight

I don't wanna die tonight
In these streets with crooks and gangs
I don't wanna be that guy that was shot down and you only remember my name
I wanna receive justice for my death with no reward to claim
I want you to look that person in the face and ask them why, make them the shame
I don't wanna die tonight
Leaving my nieces behind
I don't want their last memory to be me walking out the door with the echo of them crying
I don't wanna die tonight
Having pain fill my mom's heart
I wanna see her beautiful smile and engrave it in my heart that way it would never part
I don't wanna die tonight
With a broken heart
Full of pain, hope, and regrets
If it is my time to pass help me put this pain to rest
I don't wanna die tonight
I say to myself as tears fill my eyes
I think about everything and everyone I leave behind as i head towards the heavenly skies
Let's say I do die tonight
What would really happen
Would you be so overwhelmed by the pain that you'll just pop a couple of aspirin
Nah I wouldn't want you to sit still while popping pills to try to make the pain heal
I would want you to take time to feel and know that this isn't pretend
I'm gone for real
But I don't wanna die tonight
Despite the fright i have of disappearing out of sight into that white light
I don't wanna die tonight
Because of how much love i feel
It's the reason I wake up
The love helps me deal with what's real and what hides
And if I do die tonight it's because I was caring for others while not admitting it
I was buried in lies.
