Too Few Syllables

Location

As a child I used to write haikus

Back when we all would clap the syllables out.

They were plain, and most ended up like this:

I saw lightening

It was scary and bright yellow

It boomed all night long

There always seemed to be one extra syllable though,

And my teacher would say that I needed more practice

And my mother would say it was beautiful even with its impurities.

But now I have too many words to say

And they consist of too few syllables.
