Too Old For The Kids Menu
When you get to a certain age, age becomes just a number. The years you have been alive become a blur to all but you.
Never ask a woman her age, but just know that those lines across her forehead, they indicate wisdom and experience.
The imprint of a smile wrapped around her lips designates years of laughter filled with adventure and bliss.
Don’t be remiss for some age faster than others, it’s just a matter of how early they had to grow up.
How come I can never ask a woman her age, but as I approach adulthood, my age is the only thing that matters?
“How old are you?”
“17”
“Too young, move along.”
One more year until my voice matters, one more year until... I matter.
Still they don’t realize that my voice can move mountains.
I’ve had an opinion before I could even walk.
Too interested in others’ problems, always shunned to the side.
I don’t think they realize that when I feel wise it’s because I’ve thought long and hard about my next words. Always sure not to slur and ensure I’ll be heard.
Don’t you realize I’ve used my thoughts to create actions far beyond my years.
So mature that I surprise even those who raised me.
But don’t forget I’m not an adult.
I can’t vote, I’m not legal.
I’ll still be tried as a minor for the imaginary crime I won’t commit.
Don’t you think someone else fed me my thoughts and beliefs.
I’m too young to push them, so why pursue them, how could they be my own?
I’m not responsible, can’t handle money.
For heaven’s sake they must have skipped counting while teaching me derivatives and integrals.
I mean the derivative of tanx=sec^2x and the integral of secxtanx=secx+c but oh my gosh what’s 3+3??
You’re right I don’t know what I’m talking about.
I must need a history lesson to resolve all the misconceptions I believe.
Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue in... 1992?
I know the Presidents by heart and the Bill of Rights like the back of my hand, but for some reason I'm encouraged not to show where I stand??
Let’s set something straight... I’m too young for all of this, but you’re telling me I can’t order from the kids menu? Come on, the adult mac and cheese is NOT the same!
One thing I forgot to mention. You’re comments that I’m a cynic, only make me work harder. I’ve learned to laugh when people underestimate my powers. They think what I advertise is all that I’m doing, but in reality I’m grinding hard, despite all the booing.
