Too Short

The time you held my hand Was too short The time you held me close Was too short The time you smiled so warmly Was too short The time you sang for me Was too short The time water ran over us in the bath Was too short The time you cried in my arms Was too short The time we played in that field Was too short But the time since you’ve breathed oxygen into your pretty lungs It’s been too long.
