Too Young

6 years of age is too young to

be the punching bag for your father's stress management

7 years of age is too young to

watch a mother give her life to pills.

8 years of age is too young to

watch a brother enter foster care and a father get arrested.

9 years of age is too young to

come home to see your mother decide she rather leave than love you.

11 years of age is too young to

watch a new step-mom give birth on a sidewalk.

13 years of age is too young to

have your mother only ask for one child's custody.

14 years of age is too young to

see that your mother got remarried through photos on Facebook.

15 years of age is too young to

fall in love.

17 years of age is too young to

feel the knife of betrayal and the sting of alcohol after it ends.

18 years of age is too young to

pick which parent you want to testify against in court,

19 years of age is too young to

decide that life is no longer worth living, and attempt to end it.

20 years of age is to young too

realize life shall not be wasted.

21 years of age is too young to

give a speech about finding your purpose in life to a packed gym.

21 years of age is too young to

travel the country doing whatever you need to do to help those struggling.

I was always to young for life,

but that never stopped me.

21 years old is too young to

overcome a life of struggle,

But I did.
