Too Young to Die

We rose onto this earth

Happy and carefree

Before nothing mattered to us

Until we became teens

Inside anyone we see

There’s a scar beneath

Once upon a time

Band-aids fixed everything

Now we hide our own hearts

Living half in the dark

Head barely above water

We plaster on a smile

Where’s the end of this pain

This tunnel we’re trapped inside

Just fourteen and counting

Far too young to die.
