Torn
I don't stay up so late anymore.
My phone sits cold and still.
I smile and remember with a sting,
You said it would be okay.
The road I'm on rejects you.
Your shoes irritate the surface.
This was my decision. We had to end.
You said it would be okay.
We used to keep each other warm.
My breath, your arms, our hearts.
We headed foward, but the wind fought back.
You said it would be okay.
We both pray, we love, we try.
But it can't work out, they say.
They're right. They're right. Do you agree?
You said it would be okay.
I've listened and stood firm. You accept.
One drastic difference will break us.
Should we let it break something so strong?
You said it would be okay.
We're magnets. We have purpose.
We will change and we will stay.
God is in that. Maybe this can work.
If not, we'll still be okay.
