Touch The Sun

Followed steps that were laid out for me, Never noticed the changes. Lost in petals of divinity, In a body that time rearranges. Stories of my younger years, Consisting of heartbreak and joy. Crying of imaginary fears, Thinking I was nothing but a toy. Small things here and there, A smile, a laugh, a whimper Sending up a complex prayer, Begging for existence simpler. It dawned on me that I was grown When consciousness set in And I had to protect my own From someone lost in constant sin My body does betray me so More mature every day And just that brings its highs and lows Confused in every single way. The touch revolts me to this day And I can't trust myself But I'm stronger than they say I'll put my pain on a shelf. Up there for all to look and see So they can't say a word This is my one destiny My double edged sword. It's only this drive that keeps me afloat This ambition I have inside. This hunger that around I tote, Always here by my side. I live to prove them all wrong, That I can overcome. This experience won't hold me back long, And I WILL touch the sun.
