Touched
touched
yeah i've touched the lives of people
in a humorous way, emotional too
a physical way
but
i was also touched
violated as a young black girl
of course... statistic
touched by someone i trusted
someone i thought would only touch me to convey their love for me
a hug, a quick kiss on head before school
from the one who promised to protect me
we had been of the same womb
so maybe it was an accident?
i was so vulnerable and naive...
but
touched so many times
i built a red stone wall up
so strong
so intangible, but to me so able to be touched
but
also touched
by the angry hand of a
brutal stepfather
severely touched by his words
but
not able to show it
because of this indestructible wall
but
i dont care, says
my mouth
maybe he's right, says
my heart
