Toward Home

I rest in the calmness of dusk as it creeps across the horizon. The soft melody of laughter lingers in the moist spring air and the fading sky casts a shadow across towering pines and somber water creating an enigmatic silhouette of the deep wilderness. A whispering flame burns on a rusty surface piercing through the encroaching night to illuminate our fellowship. Although I long to wander, my branches yearn to reach for more, My roots run deep through Mississippi mud. Sweet summertime approaches swiftly, bearing my anticipation. Hurry to my rescue, my refuge my escape. Dear Southern comfort carry me away.
