Tower

What I don’t think they understand is

Although I may seem far away

My eyes, ears, heart, brain

All work the same

I cannot tell you

How many days

I have spent staring out

The window of possibility

The one that looks beyond the horizon

And displays what the world has to offer

If fear didn’t exist

And confidence was easy to find

I’d imagine myself putting my hair to good use

And exploring the world before me

Dancing with the wind

And saying goodbye to the tower

That held me captive for many years

It’s hard to escape something

That whispers familiarity

And offers comfort

But I am aware the possibility

Is out there

Waiting for me to take the leap

And grab it with two hands of triumph

What I don’t think they understand is

I am trying

With every passing moment

With every cry towards the sky

The sun breaks through the clouds

A brick falls away

And I can feel the possibility

Coursing through my bones

There is whole world out there

I can’t wait to explore it
