The Tower

Building, sweating, goals as high as the heavens themselves.

Tower growing, I stop building amidst this sweltering heat.

I take the time to greet an old friend, his goals as high as mine.

With an embrace I ask how the work is coming, and he tilts his head in confusion.

A bit strange, but I repeat the question with a smile.

Still confused, my good friend questions what I am saying.

This time, I am the one who does not understand.

It hits me that all around, I do not understand a single word being spoke by any man.

Words sound familiar, words sound different.

I’m in a frenzy, desperate to understand even a single person.

My goals have been changed in the blink of an eye.

An adventure I must go on,

To understand the language I now speak.

Reads like you're recapping an experience from The Tower of Babble; as if you were there.
