This Town

I was born in this town,

Taught to walk in this town,

Sent to school in this town.

I made friends in this town,

Laughed and cried in this town,

Became me in this town.

But I never got a choice.

No one ever stopped to ask

If here was where I wanted to be.

I knew the world was out there,

And I dreamed of it from this town.

And the day will come

When I will thank this town

For being what I needed

If never what I wanted.

And then I will say goodbye

To this, my town.
