Track and Field

during the race

not on the side

I run in between thick white lines

working toward my goal

I've trained for years and years, to satisfy

the longing in my soul

the track is my guide

teaching me the way life goes

persistence and diligence on

the toilsome ride

are the ways I learned to thrive

I thank these five lanes,

and I thank my cleats

For the hard lesson and countless pains

that have taught me how to succeed.
