Tragic Optimism

If he only knew

How much he hurt me so,

The needles in my forehead,

The glass stuck in my toe.

Each breath is getting harder

And all my fight is weak.

My mind is driving crazy

Right down this horrid creek.

Maybe he'll come clean,

And I won't have to cry.

Then maybe I'll escape,

But first I have to die.
